What do different people look for in a partner? New article published!
Recently, an article resulting from the Scientific Initiation of the former student of the Institute of Psychology, João Francisco Takayanagi, produced under the guidance of the PSE professor Jarolasva Valentova, was published.
In the article (Takayanagi, Siqueira, Silveira, & Valentova, 2024), the authors analyzed the scores of a sample of 778 people, composed of individuals of different genders and sexual orientations. The results indicated the following overall preference order among factors: 1st intelligence, 2nd kindness, 3rd sexual attraction, 4th health, 5th socioeconomic status. Differences between genders were observed, especially among heterosexual participants. Specific preferences leading to willingness to engage in short or long-term relationships were also identified.
As it is a study that investigated the preferences of non-heterosexual individuals from a Latin American country, the publication aids in the understanding of universal and specific factors that guide partner preference and human sexual behavior.
